Exploring The Influence of Science-Fiction: How are Sci-Fi Novels an Agent in The Construction of Reality?

In the summer of 2022, I attended the Pioneer Research Program, under the STS section. I wrote a paper named "Exploring The Influence of Science-Fiction: How are Sci-Fi Novels an Agent in The Construction of Reality?".
Through this paper, I take science fiction literature as a research object and aims to investigate about science fiction literature’s impact on our reality. Many surprisingly accurate predictions of our reality’s current appearance have been made in the past by science fiction literature. With the belief that forecasting the future will also influence the future, this paper aims to contribute to an understanding of how science fiction literature impacts our real world. To investigate about the influence and limitations of science fiction, I first reviewed existing studies about the development of science fiction and its impacts. Following this, I conducted an online survey designed specifically towards the young scientists who are involved in talented science programs and conducted interviews with experts in scientific and psychological research. In considering the different roles science fiction plays in innovations and in social arrangement, I have concluded that science fiction literature is involved in the production of reality.
